Out Of Africa (1985)

Baron Bror Blixen:  You're not going to fall in love with me are you?
Karen Blixen: Not with someone who's always leaving.

The Meryl Streep movie marathon goes on as I am so excited to watch her expected Oscar nominated performance in August: Osage County.  Out of Africa was her 6th nominated AMPAS performance not only because of her acting but also the accent.

This Best Picture film was directed by Oscar winner Sydney Pollack and set in (actual) Kenya.  Based on a true romantic story (1910s - 1920s), the film tells the struggle of a woman to find herself in a new society and someone to love her the way she would want to.

Poignant, long, and more on dialogue but since this was shot outside the studio, you will be amazed on the ala-National Geographic scenes of the movie reminds me of Brokeback Mountain.

Not for everyone but if you are a fan of Meryl's work, you should watch this as she has brought another character to big screen.

Winner of 7 Academy Awards.
