86th OSCAR Awards (Nominees)

I cannot deny the fact that 2013 has produced a lot of great films and 2 of these great films (while I don't enjoy the other one but still great) are "American Hustle" and "Gravity" lead the OSCAR race both with 10 nominations and followed by "12 Years A Slave" with 9 nods.

Jonah Hill was a surprise.

Jennifer Lawrence, "American Hustle"
Lupita Nyong'o, "12 Years a Slave"
Julia Roberts, "August: Osage County"
June Squibb, "Nebraska" 

No surprises but please not Jennifer Lawrence.

Best Director:
David O. Russell, "American Hustle"
Alfonso Cuaron, "Gravity"
Alexander Payne, "Nebraska"
Steve McQueen, "12 Years a Slave"
Martin Scorsese, "The Wolf of Wall Street" 

Paul Greengrass was bumped out of the magic 5 by Marty.

Best Actor:
Christian Bale, "American Hustle"
Bruce Dern, "Nebraska"
Leonardo DiCaprio, "The Wolf of Wall Street"
Chiwetel Ejiofor, "12 Years a Slave"
Matthew McConaughey, "Dallas Buyer's Club" 

Notice Tom Hanks and Robert Redford absent in the list.  It will be Bruce versus Matthew for the Best Actor.

Best Actress:
Amy Adams, "American Hustle"
Cate Blanchett, "Blue Jasmine"
Sandra Bullock, "Gravity"
Judi Dench, "Philomena"
Meryl Streep, "August: Osage County" 

Where is Emma Thompson?  Well, replaced by Meryl Streep.

Of course Angelina Jolie will be honored with a Jean Hersholt award - highest recognition!
