Growing Apart

While I was walking home, it got me thinking that one of the saddest experiences in life is to witness in your own eyes that your friendship or relationship with other people whom you are closest with grew apart.

The spontaneity and comfort are replaced by awkwardness and distance.  Then you realized, there's nothing to talk about, there's no more common ground - you feel obliged to talk just to keep it interesting or worse, avoid the fact that there's nothing there... even the nostalgia.

I always thought before that it should be easier to maintain a nonsexual relationship as you become more mature.  But no... no... no... even maturity cannot prevent this, it is inevitable a cold truth of life.

It is funny that part of my year-end reflection is not only to look back and give gratitude.  But also, to look back and see who decided to let go of us.
