Based on the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning play of Tracy Letts. Story of a vicious matriarch and her dysfunctional family that have shamelessly smack Pinoy telenovelas with its twists and surprises.
Top caliber performances from the ensemble especially Streep and Roberts - who were nominated for acting in the Academy Awards for this film.

Nothing extraordinary on the plot so I have to agree that it should not be nominated for Oscar Best Picture (was surprised though that it did not make the cut for the Adapted Screenplay) despite having the Weinstein brothers and Clooney backing up on it.
Sorry - it didn't work this time.
