The Imitation Game (2014)

A sad and yet a dignifying biopic of an extraordinary homosexual man who played a very important role in winning the WWII war by the Allies against the Germans.  

This person is Alan Turing played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

It's not just only the glitz and glamour of the Awards Season that I am so excited of, actually - it's the opportunity to see one-of-a-kind films such as this that will make an impact personally or society or probably learn new knowledge.

The film relied heavily on the eureka moment and mind-works of Turing to make it dramatic.  The last scenes of the movie were heart-wrenching.

Truly, British films conquered the Hollywood awards and I am not complaining.

Belle (2014)

How do I begin with this one?  

The greatest thing about movies is it visually communicates a story especially if it has something to do with human history which is a never-ending filthy violence and corruption.  

Belle, is a subtle way of retelling one of mankind's shameful past, racism.  Beautifully told and executed by some of Britain's premiere actors.

Must-see film.

A Long Way Down (2014)

Promising casts, story is ok - a humorous touch to suicide attempts but it failed to engage me and be interested with each character's background.  Just my two cents...

Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars)

And the guys have their revenge by kicking off 2015 with this new number 1 song dethroning Ms. Taylor "Starbucks Lover" Swift.  2014's upper hot 100 was dominated mostly by females - always a good thing.

Uptown Funk's suave rhythm and groove really helped for it to become a crowd pleaser.  Diggin' it!

Iron Lady (2011)

Finally, the film that gave Mamma Meryl her 3rd Oscar upsetting most of the critics as they were rooting for The Help's Viola Davis.  

The film's so-so but still interesting to know the story of Maggie Thatcher, hate her or love her but all agrees she's one-of-a-kind tough minister.

Meryl of course did an outstanding performance. "With all due respect sir, I have done battle, every single day of my life.

English Only, Please (2014)

Infernes naman kay Jennylyn at sa movie na ito - lavet!  I am glad it fared well sa MMFF.  Derek is passable naman for his role, exceeded my expectations.

Simple plot lang pero may kilig factor na pang mature audience.  Watch na mga beh!
