Begin Again OST (2014) [Various Artists]

Why of course!  You cannot love the movie without falling for the soundtrack.  Except for the CeeLo Green's songs, this album is tasteful!

X (2014) [Ed Sheeran]

Sophomore album from Brit's export Ed Sheeran.  Personally, I think "+" is better than this but that's just me.  This will still remind you why you fell in love with him in the first place.  And yes... you can also feel the Mraz vibe.

"One" which is the opening track is my personal favorite.

Shake It Off (Taylor Swift)

This week's Hot100 number 1.

Something different from Taylor Swift and I am digging it also.

Noticed that this year is really about Girl Power!

Bang Bang (Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj)

I am soooo addicted to this song and just like that became a fan of these 3 girls.

Love it with a bang bang!

Rak Of Aegis

I took pride on this Filipino production even the "name" was inspired by Rock of Ages and gave me a Kinky Boots vibe.

Love Aegis' music and I think how the compositions were used in a scene was spot on.  Voices were superb and the comic antics were always on right timing.

Now I understand why it went for a rerun.  A must see.

Kudos to all!!

Sex Tape (2014)

Something light, raunchy, and nonsense. Diaz and Segel did not compensate for the horrible plot.

Just save your money peeps.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

I am not sure if there's something to get here but if there was - I have missed.  I thought it would be another Marigold Hotel but nope.

This is a Wes Anderson film so it's no wonder I had myself scratching my head after watching it (see The Royal Tenenbaums).

But let's not be too philosophical about it and acknowledge that it's a work of art, a by-product of imagination and talent.  On the outside it's a comedy but hidden beneath that vibrant colors, splendid cinematography and funny execution lies the dark tone of the film.

It's not for everyone but if you're interested to try a different taste of cinematic experience.

Go ahead!

Barber's Tales (2014)

Hindi lang si Uge ang magaling dito but also iyong mga supporting casts especially Gladys Reyes and iyong kumare niya, I forgot the name.

First Ko Si Third (2014)

One of the Cinemalaya entries.  Nova Villa shines in her film and so is Dante Rivero.

Overall, I liked the film - light pero may depth, good direction (PLM alumnus) and cinematography also given its budget.  Dami ding mga LOL moments.

Now for the not so good points:

  1. Too long, I expect na iyong mga subject na ganito should be 90 minutes.  So the editing should have been improved (unnecessary scenes, slow mo, etc.)
  2. Major boo-boo iyong backstory conflict - ang labo nung reason bakit di na sila nag-usap.  This one I intentionally overlooked para ma-appreciate ko iyong movie.
But still a quality Filipino film and worth your time and money.

Lucy (2014)

I find action films having female protagonists more entertaining than the usual male led movies. Lucy was one of those.

Some may think the idea was stupid. Afterall the science depicted in this film was highly doubtful to be true nor carefully researched but what was good is the thought of a possibility that all of these crazy hypotheses maybe true.

It's an 80 minute mayhem which should be enough with no boring scenes.

ScarJo was a perfect choice to portray this Jolie-sque role.

Lucy is a love it or hate it kind of thing and I loved it.
